Rick Shaich has been interested in electronics since he built a DC motor in his pre-teen years. He got his start in design with an early version of
Craig Anderton's Electronic Projects for Musicians and PAiA kits built by gutting old TVs and hitting the military surplus stores for parts. He etched his first circuit board at age 12, much to the
chagrin of his parents, who had to listen to the results. His addiction to electronics, circuit boards, soldering and PCB layout has taken him through a life passion for electronic
design.
When not designing electronics, Rick lives in a small house in the woods of Asheville North Carolina with his partner and a slew of, once feral, cats. Rick is originally from Minneapolis MN but moved to North Carolina in 1990 due to his love of the mountains and outdoors. He enjoys live music, camping, hiking and back packing as well as carpentry, wood working, and alterative energy.
